Miriam

8.5 x 11.5 mixed media

My contribution to this week's Illustration Friday challenge "Multiple"
This piece has multiple layer's, multiple elements and Miriam is wearing multiple bracelets.

Who is Miriam anyway? Good question...because this is the name that came to mind when I was creating this piece. So now I'm in search of Miriam.

Here's what I found:

Miriam, a Hebrew name meaning either "wished for child", "bitter", or "rebellious" but it may have been derived from an Egyptian name myr "beloved or mr "love" or Meryamun "beloved of Amun". Miriam was the older sister of Moses and Aaron.

I found this blog Miriam's ideas very interesting, Miriam has a lot to say.

Miriam Webster is an Australian gospel singer/songwriter and no relation to Merriam Webster.

There is a restaurant name "Miriam" in Park Slope area of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Miriam is a font.

A myriad on Miriam.

Miriam is someone's great grandmother, grandmother, mother, aunt, cousin, sister, niece, a wife, daughter, a girlfriend.

Thanks for visiting! Do stop by "ThE ArTful EyE"

Miriam is my aunt's name and my mom and sister whent to her birthday party this past weekend in Houston. She is great lady - generous and proper and elegant.

The Miriam. C image is wonderful and your reds are so you. Warm, bright and luxurious.

Riding under east river and cannot post this comment.

A test of my ADD not my ASS patience.

It's very beautiful, Andrea and so are all the definitions of "Miriam."

I like the fact that you tell a story to go along with your collages, it gives them more meaning. If you were to hang them in a gallery, you would want to put up little labels beside them with the story on them.

Your collages make wonderful workable material for me, but one day you will copyright them, if you don't do so already. Protect your art, Andrea, it is very valuable.

Miriam's myriad. How lovely. This is a very heartwarming collage, it is as if you know that person.. In Arabic, maryam or mariam is the name of the Virgin Mary...Love etymology too.

Great new banner...didn't know you liked wearing skimpy outfits and Scotch..Tee hee :)

I also wanted to comment on that hand, wrinkled by the years a bit, soft, and yet as if it reaching out of her reality frame..The eyes reflect inner angst too.. Is this a 3D collage?

Andrea, I love your new banner, hilarious!! I want to do that. :)

This artwork is wonderful. You have really captured "Multiples" and it inspires me to make up a whole story for Miriam. The colors and mix of mediums works fantastically here.

I had a great aunt named Miriam, she went by Mem. Aunt Mem was the sweetest kindest lady, though born with a severely deformed spine. She only grew to be 4'10" or so as a result. Though tiny, she had a giant smile and a huge heart. Thanks for the memories!

This is beautiful, I am glad I came back to see the picture. Miriam was being shy last time.
Your colour pallete really appeals to me and is the perfect anecdote to the colder tones of her arm and lower face. Love the blue and your 'bubbles.'

Thankyou for your lovely comments on my blogs, this is a mutualy enjoyable journey and I look forward to seeing what else you post!
