Sock Monkey DNA

Today was Monkey Day or Monkee's Day.

Perhaps what started me on this kick was John at Typos.Daylight.Fate. I'm laughing myself silly, but when I got done altering this fractal and rotating the image around, first thought that came to mind was...my what colorful DNA strands, then I saw what looked like an outline of a monkey. ...well I suppose a sock monkey might just have such colorful DNA and...I love sock monkeys and recently came across this fun sock monkey site. Don't sock monkeys make you smile?

Can you see the resemblance?

I also love "The Monkees" as in Davey Jones, Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork and Michael Nesmith. As a matter of fact these vintage mags are expected to arrive at my doorstep any day now. The exact same magazines I held in my hands as I daydreamed of a secret date with Davey Jones and made gum wrapper love chains (look here for instructions) that I mailed to Mickey Dolenz. Sorry Peter and Mike you were off my radar.

love chain - looked like this but much longer

Signing off for now - Monkey Love a.k.a "The ArTfuL EyE"
Thanks for stopping by!

Sue I guess..it's open for interpetation. HA! I do see Elsie the cow also. I just added a monkey for cross reference, maybe I need to start drinking.

My name is John and I am a Monkeeholic, although I wanted to be like one, not date one.

My first semi-serious girlfriend and I thought this song was deep - great use of rhymes - "hand, sand, fun, sun." Here goes, let's all hum:

"I wanna be free,
Like the bluebirds flying by me
Like the waves out on the blue sea.
If your love has to tie me, don't try me,
Say good-bye.

I wanna be free,
Don't say you love me say you like me,
But when I need you beside me,
Stay close enough to guide me, confide in me,
Oh-oh-oh

I wanna hold your hand,
Walk along the sand
Laughing in the sun,
Always having fun
Doing all those things
Without any strings
To tie me down.

I wanna be free,
Like the warm September wind, babe,
Say you'll always be my friend, babe.
We can make it to the end, babe,
Again, babe, I gotta say:
I wanna be free
I wanna be free
I wanna be free"

It is so cool you are geting those teen mags. Have you seen Davie on the Time/Life informercial for 60's music?

The altered image do look like three day old monkey.love.bites - each of us will go back to simpler times in our own way. My best.

I love the Monkees!! I used to watch them all the time, and still stop and stare when I run across one of their shows.

I agree on the cow. Moooo. Beautiful piece!

I am a Dutch woman who was not raised on the Monkeys, but I am familiar with the phenomenon and can see the attraction to raging teenage hormones. During my spell in the States, I saw lots of reruns of the Monkeys and I always like the little short fellow the best. I don't remember what his name was.

I hope my DNA is as colorful as that what you portray here. It would make me a colorful character, no doubt. I imagine the different letters standing for the different colors of the rainbow.
